Robert T. Mitchell, Jr. is a principal in Hall, Monahan, Engle, Mahan & Mitchell in its Winchester office, practicing in the areas of civil litigation, business and commercial law, estate planning, estate administration, commercial and residential real estate, local government law, and libel, slander, and defamation. Mr. Mitchell is AV rated by the Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory, denoting the highest levels of integrity and professional excellence.

Mr. Mitchell earned a B.S. degree in civil engineering from Virginia Military Institute and a law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Phi Alpha Delta honor societies. He was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as Associate Editor of the Washington & Lee Law Review.

Mr. Mitchell served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1965-1968. He is the Commissioner of Accounts for the City of Winchester and is a Certified Mediator for the McCammon Group. Mr. Mitchell’s commitment to the legal profession has been recognized by his selection as a Fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation and the American Bar Foundation.

Mr. Mitchell is active in the community, having served as a member and chairman of the Winchester School Board, Downtown Development Board, Parks and Recreation Board, and the Handley Board of Trustees.
